Add-A-Lake
This tutorial was created
and put on this site on July 2, 2003. For this tutorial you will
need: Open the image of your
choice or use the one I am using. *Notice this graphic has a natural dividing line in it. That is what inspired me to make this graphic into one with a lake. Most pictures of this type have some sort of natural division in them - it is just how you see it. File > Save as > addalake.pspimage Shift + S to copy your image and then close your original image. Promote your background layer in the Layer Palette. Rename this layer "original" and turn off the visibility to this layer. In your Layer Palette duplicate the layer. Rename the copy of layer "bottom". Set your lasso tool set at: Draw along the dividing line and include the top of the image - basically
what you want above the lake. Just for safe keeping when I am working a project like this one I will save my selections to an Alpha channel. Selections > Load/Save selection > Save to Alpha channel > Name it top > Save. Selections > Promote to layer. Rename this layer "top". Activate the "bottom" layer Hit the delete key. Selections > Select none.
