I call this the Trish Bar because I learned to make these from Trish (unfortunately her site poof'd.).

For this tutorial you will need:

PSP 7
Sloop Three font
Blade Pro
Gold Shiny Preset

You can use any fancy font for this tutorial but Sloop works very well.

Open an image 500 by 200.

Flood fill with black then add a new layer.

Set white as your background color, select your Text tool, with these settings:

Type this:  Bananabread

Click ok.

Effects > Plug-in Filters > Blade Pro - shiny gold >

The only change for this is the Shape.  If you change it to the rounded shape like in the graphic above the gold will have more sheen.

Click ok.

Selections > Select None.

Click on the copy button and then hold down the ctrl key and hit the letter "L" one time.

Image > Flip

Move the flipped image around so it is directly above the original.

Click on the copy button and then hold down the ctrl key and hit the letter "L" one time.

Image > Mirror

Move the mirrored image so it buts up against the end of the original.

Click on the copy button and then hold down the ctrl key and hit the letter "L" one time.

Image > Mirror > Flip

Move the flipped/mirrored image so it fits into the top right of your bar.

Delete your "black" layer, merge the four "bar" layers and then finish it off with or without a drop shadow and as a transparent or filled with appropriate background.
