Deco Flower Tile
Tutorial This tutorial was created
and put on this site on January 15, 2003. For this tutorial you will
need:
Open a new image: Set your foreground styles box to gradient. Click on the styles box
again and set your gradient to:
Flood Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds > these settings: Effects > Geometric Effects > Circle. This is how our image should be looking:
Using your selection Selections > Promote to layer. Activate layer 1 and hit your delete key. Selections > Select none. Using your mover tool you want to switch the top and bottom pieces like shown below.
Be sure your straight edge of your circle half, lines up with the edge of your image. When you get the pieces just where you want them, right click on one of your layers in the layer palette and Merge > Merge visible. Right click again on the merged layer and duplicate. Image > Rotate > 90 degrees either direction, all layers UNchecked.
Add a new raster layer. Change your gradient to angle 45. Flood fill your new layer. Layers > Arrange > Send to bottom. On your layers Merged and Copy of Merged decrease the opacity to 50. Bring up your pearl tube. Using your selection tool draw a box around the pearl you would like to use. Edit > Copy. Activate your tile image. Edit > Paste > As a new layer. This will center your pearl on your tile. You can close your pearl image. Image > Resize > 50% of original, All layers UNchecked, Maintain ratio checked. Right click on one of your layers in the layer palette and Merge > Merge visible. Selections > Select all. Selections > Modify > Contract > 5 > ok. Image > Crop to selection. Effects > Plug-in Filters > Simple > Diamonds. All Done!
Try out different gradients and settings.
