Draw a line about 18 pixels long vertically, then double click out towards the edge of your graphic.

(Click for larger view.)

I have filled my layer 1 with gray so it is easier to see what we are doing here.

Click your object selector and then click node edit in your tool options box.

First you want to add a node to the top end of the wing.

Now grab the arrow end of the adjuster and pull it out.  You will see the end of your wing get more rounded.

Now click on the bottom node and grab the ball end of the adjuster and move it back towards the body a bit and down.

Grab the top node and pull out and up.

Move the two nodes that are closest to the body together so that you close the loop.  This does not need to be perfect but the opening does need to be closed.

You can fiddle with it until you get just the right shape but we will move on with instructions from here.

Click the top bar of your graphic and that will quit your node editing.

Right click on this layer and convert to raster and name this layer wing.
