Cutout Kaleidoscope Easter Eggs This tutorial was created
and put on this site on January 15, 2003. For this tutorial you will
need: Right-click and copy this color swatch: Open your saved egg. You should have one layer with the egg that has the contracted color rings. You might also have an unused bottom layer. Rename your layer with the egg on it to something like egg. Activate your egg layer. Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Defloat. Add a new raster layer and name it solid. Fill the selection with your choice of the spring colors. I am using the green. Selections > Select none. Layers > Arrange > Send to bottom. Activate your egg layer. Effects > Reflection
Effects > Kaleidoscope > these settings: Activate your solid layer. Select your selection tool. Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Defloat. Activate your egg layer. Selections > Invert. Hit your delete key. Selections > Invert. Click inside your egg. Your selection should now go around the pattern created by the Kaleidoscope. Selections > Defloat. Activate your solid layer. Selections > Invert. Selections > Float. Effects > 3D Effects
> Cutout > these settings: Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Defloat. Activate your topmost layer. Add a new raster layer and name it shadow. Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout > these settings: Add a new raster layer and name it highlight. Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout > these settings: Selections > Select none. Right click one of your other layers and Merge > Merge visible. Try out different Kaleidoscope settings! Enjoy!
