Easter Egg Basket

For this tutorial you will need:
Paint Shop Pro  ~ download a trial version.
My egg shape  ~  download here.
(Unzip into Programs\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Shapes.)

Open a new image:
400 x 400 pixels
Transparent
16.7 Million colors

Set your foreground to null and your background to solid fill with your choice of color.  I am using #98A3E8.

Select your shapes tool and set at:
ww-egg
antialias & vector checked
line width 1
line style solid

Draw a large egg.

Objects > Align > Center in Canvas.

In your layer palette right click on your vector layer and convert to raster.

Select your selection tool and set at:
ellipse
feather 0
antialias checked

Draw a wide ellipse around the top half of your egg.

Selections > Promote to layer.

Activate the layer with the whole egg on it and hit the delete key.  Rename this layer bottom and the other layer top.

Selections > Select none.

Activate your top layer.

Selections > Select all.

Selections > Float.

Selections > Modify > Contract > 20.

Hit your delete key.

Selections > Select none.

Effects > Texture effects > Weave > these settings:
Gap size 1
Width 10
Opacity 100
Weave color #2E41A0
(if you are using the same starting color as I am.)
Gap color #182150
(if you are using the same starting color as I am.)
Fill gaps checked

Activate your bottom layer.

Effects > Texture effects > Weave > same settings.

Turn off your bottom layer.

Select your lasso tool and set at:
point to point
feather 0
antialias UNchecked

If need be - View > Zoom in by 1.

You want to select the "inside" piece of the basket.  I have drawn a solid line about where you should select.

Selections > Invert.

Selections > Promote to layer.

Activate the layer named top and hit your delete key.  Rename this layer inside.

Rename the promoted layer handle.

Selections > Select none.

Make sure your handle layer is active.

Effects > 3D effects > Inner Bevel > these settings:
Bevel  Rounded Width  31 Smoothness  73 Depth  5 Ambience  0 Shininess  12 Color  White Angle  315 Intensity  45 Elevation  30

Activate the inside layer.

Colors > Adjust > Brightness/Contrast > these settings:
Brightness -40
Contrast 0

Arrange the layers so that they are in the following order:
bottom
handle
inside

Activate your "bottom" layer.

Selections > Select all.

Selections > Float.

Selections > Defloat.

Add a new raster layer and name it shadow.

Effects > 3D effects > Cutout > these settings:
Horizontal -11
Vertical -6
Opacity 60
Blur 50
Shadow color black

Add a new raster layer and name it highlight.

Effects > 3D effects > Cutout > these settings:
Horizontal 4
Vertical 1
Opacity 40
Blur 20
Shadow color white

Turn off your inside and handle layers.

Right click one of the other layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer outside.

Turn off your outside layer. Right click one of the other layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer inside.

Now to fill your basket add a new layer between the outside and inside layers.
