Shimmering Star Tutorial by Whisper This tutorial was
created and put on this site on November 25, 2002. For this tutorial you will
need:
Open a new image: Flood Set your foreground to null and background to solid white. Select your shapes Draw out a star about 125 x 125. Objects > Align > Center in Canvas. In your Layer Palette right click on the vector layer and convert to raster, rename this layer Star. Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture > Gold preset, change the smoothness to 63. Add a new layer and name it Highlight. Select your lasso Draw a rectamgle with your lasso tool similar to the screen shot below. Flood Selections > Select none. In your Layer Palette set the opacity of your Star layer to about 30. In your Layer Palette right click on the Highlight layer and duplicate it 6 times. Using your mover In the Layer Palette click on the little glasses on the original Highlight layer. We will just keep this in reserve just in case. Activate your Star layer. Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Invert. Activate your top Copy of Highlight layer. Hit the delete key. Activate the next Copy of Highlight layer down. Hit the delete key. Do this for the remaining Copy of Highlight layers but not to the original Highlight Layer. When you have done all the Copy of Highlight layers, Selections > select none. Return your Star layer to 100 opacity.
