Now we need to rename the highlight layers.  Just add a number to the end, starting with 1 on the bottommost Copy of Highlight layer and going up to 6.

(Note - If you want to give your highlights a little bit more oomph, change the blend mode to for each highlight layer to Overlay or Luminance.  You can see the differences at the bottom of this page.)

Now right click on the Star layer and duplicate that 6 times.  Go through and rename the Copy of Star layers 1 through 6 also.

Click and drag each star layer to just below the corresponding highlight layer.

Turn off all layers (by clicking on the little glasses) except the Copy of Highlight6 and Copy of Star6 layers.  Right click on either of those layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer Star6.  Turn this layer off.

Turn on Copy of Highlight5 and Copy of Star5. Right click on either of those layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer Star5.  Turn this layer off.

Turn on Copy of Highlight4 and Copy of Star4. Right click on either of those layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer Star4.  Turn this layer off.

Turn on Copy of Highlight3 and Copy of Star3. Right click on either of those layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer Star3.  Turn this layer off.

Turn on Copy of Highlight2 and Copy of Star2. Right click on either of those layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer Star2.  Turn this layer off.

Turn on Copy of Highlight1 and Copy of Star1. Right click on either of those layers and Merge > Merge visible.  Rename this layer Star1.

Turn the layers back on.

Now you should have 9 layers:

Duplicate your Star layer and rename it Start Star.

Layers > Arrange > Bring to top.

Right click on your Highlight layer and delete.

Right click on your Layer1 and delete.

Rearrange your layers so that they are in this order:
Start Star
Star1
Star2
Star3
Star4
Star5
Star6
Star

Using your crop tool, crop off the excess blank area of your image.

Save your image as a .psp file.

File > Jasc Software Products > Launch animation Shop.

File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Layered Files Tab > check Keep layers as separate frames > ok.

Click on the Animation Wizard button.

First window - check "Same size as the first image frame".

Click next.

Second window - chose whether you want the background transparent or opaque.  I will chose opaque and black for the color.

Click next.

Third window - check "Upper left corner of frame" and "With the canvas color".

Click next.

Fourth window - click "Yes, repeat animation indefinitely" and set loop time to 8.

Click next.

Fifth window - click "Add Image" and find your image.

Click next.

Sixth window click Finish.

Now your animation strip opens up.

Scroll to the end and right click on the last frame chose Frame properties.  Under the Display Time tab enter 200 and click ok.

Click on your View Animation button.  Adjust the timing as you like.

Save your star!
