Add a layer at the bottom of your Layer Palette.

Flood fill with a gray color, I am using #C8C8C8.

Colors > Set Palette Transparency > these settings:
First Screen -

Move the second screen so that you can see your image.  If you move your cursor to your image it will turn into the eye dropper.  With your dropper click inside the gray background area.

Second Screen -

Click on the third radio button.  Click on the proof button and you should see the gray background disappear.  *Note - where it says 30 in my screen shot, your number will vary depending on the color you are setting to transparent.  Click ok and now your flower is ready to be saved as a transparent gif.

File > Save > flower.gif.

Now to make it into an icon!

Start up Microangelo Studio.

File > Open > yourflower.gif

You main screen should look basically like the screen shot below.

(Click for larger view.)

Now you just have to save your image as an icon.

File > Save as > file name and file type - Icon Resource.

Now you have your icon ready for use.

The following instructions are for Windows 2000 but I think you can get the idea for another operating system.

In a blank area of your desktop right click and choose Properties.

Click on the Effects tab.

Click on the icon you want to change, click on the Change Icon button, click on the Browse button.

Find your flower.ico and highlight.

Click Open, click Ok, click Apply, and click Ok.

You should now have your little flower as a desktop icon.

Some people use larger icons, the standard size is 32x32 and the large icons are 48x48.

Maybe a bunch of flowers.

Or how about making yourself a recycle bin icon?

A big thanks to my testers!
