Textured Pixel Fence This tutorial was
created and put on this site on January 4, 2005. For this tutorial you will
need: Open a new image: View > Zoom > In by 5 steps. Repeat. Set your foreground to dark brown, I am using #56391C. Activate your paint brush
and set at: Paint the picket outline
following the screenshot below: Activate your magic wand
and set at: Click inside your outline. Flood fill your selection with a lighter brown, I am using #BDA17D. Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add noise > uniform, 18, monochrome checked. Effects > Plugins > dsb Flux > Blast > these
settings: Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask > these settings: Selections > Float. Effects > 3D effects > Cutout > these settings: Selections > Select none. Edit > Copy. Open a new image: Edit > Paste > Paste as new layer. Duplicate the picket layer, repeat until you have 14 pickets. Now this next part may seem a bit odd but for those of us that can't space things out evenly, this makes it easy. Lay out your pickets side by side using the mover tool. Do this to the left side, rather than centering. I overlapped the dark 1 pixel border.
Activate your top layer. Activate your shapes tool and set it at: Set your foreground to the dark brown, #56391C, and the background to the lighter brown, #BDA17D. Draw out a rectangle that is 112 by 4. Watch your
numbers in the bottom left corner.
In your layer palette, right click on the vector layer and convert to raster. Using your magic wand, click in the light brown area of the cross rail. Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add noise > uniform, 18, monochrome checked. Effects > Plugins > dsb Flux > Blast > these
settings: Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask > these settings: Selections > Float. Effects > 3D effects > Cutout > these settings: Selections > Select none. Layers > Duplicate. Image > Flip. Layers > Arrange > Send to bottom. Activate the top layer - should be your other cross rail. Layers > Arrange > Send to bottom. Now we need to get rid of our extra pickets. We want to delete every other one. Activate your mover tool.
Simply click on the one you want to delete then hit your delete key on your keyboard.
In your layer palette turn off your two cross rail layers. Right click on any of the picket layers and merge visible. Turn the cross rail layers back on and turn off the merged picket layer. Right click on either rail layers and merge visible. Turn the picket layer back on. Make sure your picket layer is activated. Effects > 3D effects > Drop shadow > these settings: Activate the rail layer. Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Invert. Activate the shadow layer. Edit > Clear. Selections > Select none. Right click on any of the layers and merge visible. Your fence is ready to use!
*This fence is easy to change colors on using the Manual Color Correction.
Or even change the design of the picket....
