Animating the flag!

In your layer palette find the layer that has the flag on it.

Right click the flag layer and duplicate.

Rename the layers flag1 and flag2.

Turn off the flag2 layer.

Set your selection tool to rectangle, feather 0, anti-alias unchecked.

Starting from the left and working to the right...

Count over four pixels and start your selection to include all from top to bottom four pixels wide.
I have outlined my selection in pink.

Click on that area and move it 1 pixel up.

Selections > Defloat.

Activate the mover tool.

Holding down the right mouse button, move the selection over, you want to skip the next four and aim for the fourth section.

Activate the selection tool and click on the section and move it down 1 pixel.

Selections > Defloat.

Activate the mover tool.

Holding down the right mouse button, move the selection over, you want to skip the next four and aim for the last section.

Activate the selection tool and click on the section and move it up 1 pixel.

Selections > Defloat.

In the layer palette, lower the opacity of the flag1 layer to about 40.  Turn the flag2 layer back on.

Activate the mover tool.

Holding down the right mouse button, move the selection over to the second section again.

Activate the selection tool and move the section down 1 pixel.

Selections > Defloat.

Activate the mover tool, move the selection to the fourth section again.

Activate the selection tool and move the section up 1 pixel.

Selections > Defloat.

Activate the mover tool, move the selection to the last section again.

Activate the selection tool and move the section down 1 pixel.

Selections > select none.

Turn off the two flag layers.

Right click on any of the other layers and Merge > Merge visible.

Right click on the merged layer and duplicate.

Turn off one of the merged layers and turn on one of the flag layers.

Right click on either of the turned on layers and Merge > Merge visible.

Rename this layer flag1 and turn it off.

Turn the other flag layer on and merged layer.

Right click on either of the turned on layers and Merge > Merge visible.

Rename this layer flag2.

File > Jasc Software Products > Launch Animation shop.

Back in PSP, activate the flag1 layer.

Edit > Copy.

In Animation shop, Edit > Paste > As new animation.

Back in PSP, activate the flag2 layer.

Edit > Copy.

In Animation shop, Edit > Paste > After current frame.

Right click on the first frame.

Frame properties > Time display > 22 > ok.

Right click on the second frame.

Frame properties > Time display > 19 > ok.

That's it!

Just save your animated flag!
