tutorial was created and put on this site on July 21, 2004. For this tutorial
you will need: Unzip and open the nautical2.psp & ww-water.jpg image in PSP. Minimize your ship image. Activate your water image. In your layer palette, right click on the background layer and Promote background layer. Image > Rotate > Rotate Counter Clockwise 90 degrees. Image > Resize > 75%, Smart or Bicubic size (depends on image), Resize all layers unchecked. In your layer palette, right click on the layer and duplicate layer. Make sure that the top layer is active. Adjust > Hue & Saturation > Colorize > Hue 0 & Saturation 0 > ok. Effects >
Plugins > Xenofex > Distress > these settings: Selections > Select all. Selections > Float. Selections > Defloat. Selections > Modify > Inside/Outside Feather > Inside, 25 > ok. Selections > Invert. Edit > Clear. Selections > Select none. Lower the opacity of this layer to 70%. Activate the bottom layer. Effects >
Texture effects > Mosaic-Antique > these settings:
Activate your top layer. Select your shapes
tool and set at: Set your foreground to null and your background to solid light gray, I am using #cococo. Draw out a tall thin rectangle, I made mine 35 wide and 410 long. Place the rectangle over to one side.
In your layer palette, right click on the vector layer and convert to raster layer. Effects >
Plugins > Xenofex > Distress > these settings: Effects >
Plugins > Xenofex > Crumple > these settings: Set this layer to 70% opacity and the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy).
Effects > 3D
effects > Drop shadow > these settings: Select your shapes tool again with the same settings. Draw out a rectangle across the bottom of your image.
In your layer palette, right click on the vector layer and convert to raster layer. Effects > Plugins > Xenofex > Distress > same settings. Effects > Plugins > Xenofex > Crumple > same settings. Set this layer to 70% opacity and the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy). Effects > 3D
