"Making You
Sleepy" Tile This
tutorial was created and put on this site on September 21, 2004. For this tutorial
you will need:
Open a new image: Set your colors to
solid fill and two contrasting colors, Select your paint
tool and set to: Paint a 1 pixel wide stripe down the left side with the black. Select your magic
wand and set to: Click inside the empty area. Flood fill the selection with the light gray. Selections > Select none.
Open another new
image: Paint a 1 pixel wide stripe down the left side with the light gray. Using your magic wand click inside the empty area. Flood fill the selection with the black. Selections > Select none. Now you should have two images that are opposites.
Open another new
image: Set your selection
tool to: Starting at the
top left click and drag to the far right middle. Select your flood fill tool. Set your
foreground to pattern fill with these settings: Flood fill the selection. Selections > Invert. Set your
foreground to pattern fill with these settings: Flood fill the selection. Selections > Select none.
You will not need the first two images so you can minimize or close them.
Open another new
image: Select your flood fill tool. Set your
foreground to pattern fill with these settings: Flood fill your image.
You will not need the long double strip image so you can minimize or close it. Effects >
Distortion effects > Wave > these settings:
Image > Canvas
Size > these settings: Layers > Duplicate. Image > Rotate > Free rotate > Right, 90 degrees (all & center unchecked). Using your mover tool move the top piece to the right of the original piece.
In your layer palette right click on either layer and Merge > Merge visible. Layers > Duplicate. Image > Flip. Image > Mirror. In your layer palette right click on either layer and Merge > Merge visible. Save in your preferred format and your tile is ready for use.
